Favorite GMT memory: My favorite GMT memory is leading my trip to the Dominican Republic sophomore year. After going to Panama with GMT freshman year, getting to come back as a Trip Leader and help create that same experience for someone else was so special. I loved watching our group become such a close little family, and that trip gave me some of my favorite people and memories from college. It was really when I realized how much GMT had come to mean to me!
Why did you join GMT? I joined GMT because I wanted to be part of a community that combined my interests in medicine, service, and meaningful relationships. I loved that GMT offered the opportunity to learn about healthcare through direct service while also surrounding me with people who genuinely care about supporting one another. It has become one of the communities at UT that has shaped me most, which is a huge part of why I wanted to stay involved as a mentor.

Favorite GMT memory: I can't choose one specific memory, but Clinic Day 3 of the Summer 2026 Nicaragua Trip was such a special day of memories for me! I got stationed at the dental clinic which was a really cool new experience for me (as a pre-med), spent my down time as we rotated through cleanings giving out SO many temporary tattoos and stickers to the kids waiting outside and making connections with them (they were SO precious), got to go on a special home visit where I stepped in as the main translator/interpreter since I speak Spanish, and ended off the day with a boat ride and dinner in the cultural town we were staying in which was so much fun! Why did you join GMT? I joined GMT as a sophomore, mainly because I had heard so many amazing things about it from friends I had in it as a freshman! As someone who speaks Spanish as a non-native learner and is always trying to get better at it so I can use it someday in my future practice, going on the trips with GMT to Spanish-speaking countries also felt like the perfect fit as it would allow me to not only get the clinical experience I was wanting, but get lots of practice with speaking relevant medical Spanish and actually using it in a clinical setting! *side note - speaking Spanish is not a requirement to go on trips since there are translators there but it was amazing to get to do so since I was able to!
